We never know what subjects will show up, so wildlife photography demands we make the best possible use of light. In this video I visit Rietvlei Nature Reserve near Pretoria in South Africa, looking for perfect light. Unfortunately, I don't get it and have to make the best use of the light I have.

This week I'm looking for a bucket list shot. I want to photograph Zebra in the chest high wildflowers that bloom all over the grasslands of the Highveld in South Africa in late summer. I'm on safari at Rietvlei nature reserve and looking for wildlife to photograph. I want to explore the more creative side of photography and explain how most of my favourite shots arise out of being observant, patient and taking opportunities when they come.

I'm sharing my wildlife photography safari tips on a game drive as I meet a herd of Buffalo, find some cheetah scat, visit my favourite photo spot while listening to the blues. I make videos mostly about what I believe to be important in nature photography and for me, this is the behind the scenes story of how I get some of my shots.

Today I'm looking to improve my portfolio while on safari at Rietvlei Nature Reserve in South Africa. I want to photograph sunrise silhouettes of wildlife and animals along the ridge lines at Rietvlei. I hope to capture shots of animals with the sun behind them or with a glorious orange dawn sky.
